For the second time of 2019 MCM descended on the ExCel. A three day celebration of all that if pop culture and geeky.
Friday
On Friday I was decked out as Spider-Man Noir after failing to finish another cosplay, 2020 I need to manage my downtime better ! Friday is always quieter, so gave me the opportunity to hit the Funko stand, and allowed me to walk away with a Hocus Pocus movie moment, Funkoverse DC Board Game and Rick & Morty Board Game expansion.
After attending for a number of years, and thanks to Facebook, it was good to briefly bump into a number of cosplay friends.
MCM I love as it also gives me a chance to browse the comic village, where I met Dave Cook from Card Shark Comics, he produces a Killtopia, Bust and Vessels, all of which I have backed on Kickstarter. This year I also brought a couple of additional books, and so far loving the new additions.
Saturday
Saturday was day 2 as Spider-Man Noir, and early on the day I met up with another Spider-Man Noir, who I shared parts of the day with and had many photos taken. I also got to meet up two cosplayers who I always try to meet and get a picture with, Katherine Hemmings and Karl Hughs, who were Squirrel Girl and The Grandmaster respective.
Saturday also I got to meet for picture and autograph a true geek hero, Simon Pegg, who was completely sold out, I had a Hot Fuzz Steel book signed and kindly asked for a movie quote, he happily obliged with ‘Little hand says its time to rock and roll’.
Later in the day I also got to meet up with a work colleague and his partner who were there meeting Troy Baker, Nolan North and Tara Strong, we managed a game of Keyforge and brief chat before moving on for the day.
It was later in the day I bumped into Spider-Man Noir from earlier in the day near the MCM sign, and Spider-Man / Spider-Gwens, what was to be a quick photo by the sign ended up being nearly an hour as many many people wanted pictures, and yes we did move from the sign so others can use it.
