A bit late with posting, a case of life intervening.
Attending MCM London on Friday as Agent 47, it was one of those days that started out pretty overcast and dull, but come lunch time it was all sunshine and smiles over the ExCel as MCM hit its full swing on day one.
I tend to used Agent 47, or a similar suit character as it provides the freedom to celebrity photos and autographs, so on day one was no exception.
First celebrity for me was former Doctor Who, Sylvester McCoy, he was great, as the selfie shows, and had to have his autograph. He was polite and would engage and chat with all his visitors.
I had time to wander before my next celeb photo, so took in the sights, Universal had a large presence, promoting Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, Skyscraper and The Meg, while wandering I did bump into Grandmaster and Vanellope, better know as Kittys Cosplay, a couple who I have seen at different conventions.
Later in the day I did get to meet Michael Biehn, an actor who was made famous in The Terminator by portraying Kyle Reese and later to star as Hick in Aliens.
My last celebrity of the day was Chris Barrie, Rimmer from Red Dwarf, or for those old enough, Mr Brittas from The Brittas Empire.
The next day was the debut of a more ambitious cosplay, Darth Revan from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It was a learning experience, and a character I loved playing through the day.
So what did I learn?
1. The mask fogs up! a lot, so for the next con it will have a new part to help prevent that
2. Full worbla (Thermoplastic) vambraces hurt! So trying a foam/worbla mix for next convention
3. Parts fall off! had two guards fall off gloves and guards from the boots went missing, these are being re-done and better-fixing methods being used
4. The chest plate being made from PVC slips, this, in turn, pulled my hood down, a whole new chest plate is in progress.
Was he recognised, well yes, and had great fun with a white Revan (a redeemed Revan), dual with a Comic studio owner and lots of Star Wars Fans, parents and kiddies, except for one young princess who was scared!
