Cambridge has had several attempts at comic-cons over the years, to various successes, this year was the first foray and was held at The Junction.
I was fortunate to win tickets for the event, however only attended on Saturday. August was hot, so in reflection my Spider-Man Noir was possibly not the best, although was stopped several times for pictures. The guest list was smaller and my ony paid photo opportunity dropped out on the Friday, so I had no real plans once getting in, which was late, early entry was 10am, and ended up getting in around 11am.
Inside the venue was where the immediate issues can be seen, The Junction is a marvellous venue for music / comedy events, however due to the constricted space felt cramped with only minimal people inside. Outside there was further vendors, however these were not signposted, so later in day, easily missed.
I did get Alexis Cruz and Clem So autographs and selfies, and given the low footfall, it was also good to actually spend time talking about their films with them.
The low footfall later in the day also allowed me the time to speak with vendors.
Cambridge Comic-Con hopefully will take the teething issues on-board if they hold a 2020 event.
